This whole thing: Eric’s revenge plan requires Sookie’s participation, but it has to be unwilling or Russell will see right through it; YET, he doesn’t really want to use her.
I LOVE THE WRITING ON THIS SHOW. It’s a lose-lose or, considering what happened in 3.12, a win-win from Eric’s perspective.

Eric thought to ask Sookie to help him that’s why he went at Jason’s in 3x10, to ask her help, to work with him. HIM Eric, 1000 years, went ASKING help to Sookie, human, 26 years…i don’t know if people ever realized how BIG this step was for him.
And guess who screwed up everything by not telling the truth AGAIN? Beeeell. Tipical. He must die.

I agree. You can tell how much effect Sookie has had on him. S1 Eric wouldn’t have thought twice about using her and pre The BSS he probably would have too. After he got blood into her his motives changed. By the middle of s3 he had totally re-arranged his motivations. No one can say he wasn’t thinking about her or her feelings and well been it was our resident douche Beel that fucked everything up totally and for one wish a stake would meet his chest

That.

Billy wouldn’t tell her a thing.

You white knight Bill - I was protecting Sookie by not telling her ANYTHING about my world. That will keep her safe

Knowledge is power. And Bill did not want Sookie to have any power what so ever.

Why would we seek equal rights? You are not our equals. We will eat you after we eat your children. Now time for the weather. Tiffany?
Best tv speech ever. LOL

Heh. I personally like the part where he explains how “eating people is a tough sell these days.” :)

True Blood Cast Interviews at the HBO Emmy After Party

Denis O’Hare hints as to whether or not his character, Russell, will be coming back next season. He also tells us how shocked he was at the season finale.

TEAM RUSSEL <3

"Everybody dies…" I love this guy. :)

We won’t see Russell Edgington untill mid-season.
“I’m coming back [for True Blood’s fifth series] mid-season because of An Iliad. I’m amazed that we were able to negotiate around that,” O’Hare said. “I’m very happy to come back and actually I got the first two scripts for True Blood and I’ve been hungrily reading them.”

Lots of panties in a bunch about this, I see. Of course I’m disappointed that I can’t have Russell in every episode, but I’ll take what I can get, man!

I am glad for him. Having too much work is a good problem for an actor. Best of luck to Denis. And I am also glad that they were, indeed, able to negotiate around it and we do get Russell back at some point.
And hey, it wouldn’t be a True Blood fandom if someone’s panties weren’t in a bunch about something or other. ;)

So not a good liar! Love this scene between them. His heartbreak at having to do this to her and also saying good-bye is palpable. I was like Pam…crying my bloody eyes out….

"My little pudding." "I’m so happy I could bleed." I am a little sorry we didn’t get to see their "married" life. It would have been hilarious. :)

If only Sookie could see how he tries to help her. She realizes some in S4 and I hope she sees more of it in S5.

She may not see all the details, but she knows by now. She has seen his goodness, and she has seen his willingness to sacrifice himself.

This is just one of the times that Sookie doesn’t realize what Eric has done for her. We as viewers know the truth. Another time that I thought Sookie should have said whoa was when Pam revealed that Russell killed Eric’s entire family. Sookie just stands there and never says one thing. Ugh. Shakes head. Course she had the queen’s blood once again just before this scene.

I don’t get it, how powerful is beel’s blood? does it really make Sookie that numb to what’s happening around her emotionally? it just seems that his blood isn’t just influencing her but it has complete control.

I don’t think that Sookie not saying something in an opportune moment is influence of Bill’s blood. Things don’t happen like that: You don’t follow logical conversational patterns when something comes up, especially in situations already fraught with drama. She didn’t say anything, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t give a shit or didn’t notice. It’s a conversation at the moment where any kind of “OMG! NO! You poor thing!” statement from Sookie would have been completely superfluous. Not the time, not the place. For any kind of declarations. Not to mention, she has just been through yet another hellish experience, and I am betting her capacity for shock or processing new info is at a rather low right then. Doesn’t mean she didn’t note it or didn’t remember later.
